Enable and use passwordless login for vault on mobile

    You can set up passwordless login for vault on your mobile device, which allows you to log in your LastPass vault via the LastPass app for iOS or Android using your device's stored biometrics (face or fingerprint) instead of manually entering your master password.

    Restriction: LastPass Business accounts that have enabled federated login with a third-party identity provider cannot simultaneously enable passwordless login for the vault.

    Requirements

    Before you begin: You must have the following:

    iOS Android
    • iOS device running iOS 15 or later
    • LastPass app for iOS version 5.16.0 or later
    • A biometric feature set up (face or fingerprint)
    • Android device running Android OS 9 (Pie) or later
    • LastPass app for Android version 5.12.0 later
    • A biometric feature set up (face or fingerprint, with "BIOMETRIC_STRONG - Class 3" required)
    • A device with a hardware-backed keystore (to verify, go to Settings > Security > Encryption & credentials > Storage type and confirm Hardware backed is listed)

    How to enable

    To get started, enable passwordless login for vault on your mobile device.

      Log in to the LastPass app.

      1. Log in to the LastPass app for iOS or Android app with your email address and master password.

      Enable passwordless login.

      1. Tap Settings > Security.
      2. Enable the setting that applies (feature availability will vary based on device):
        • Log in with Face ID (iOS)
        • Log in with Touch ID (iOS)
        • Log in with biometrics (Android)
      3. When prompted, enter your master password, then tap Set up passwordless.

      4. Verify your stored biometrics using face or fingerprint.
    Results: The Log in with <biometric option> setting is now enabled, and you have enabled passwordless login for vault on mobile via biometrics (face or fingerprint) from this specific device.
    What to do next: Log out of the LastPass app (go to Back > Log Out) to try out passwordless login.

    How to use

    Once enabled, you can log in to your vault by using face or fingerprint instead of entering your master password from this specific device.

    1. Open the LastPass app on your mobile device.
    2. Below the Log In option, tap to select your available biometric login method (e.g., Use Face ID, Use Fingerprint, etc.).

    3. Verify your stored biometrics using face or fingerprint.
    Results: You have successfully logged in to the LastPass app using passwordless login for vault on your mobile device.
