You can join a LastPass Families account (once you've been invited by a Family Manager) by activating a new LastPass account. You will need to create your own strong, unique master password. This password should never be reused for any website or application, as it is intended only for logging in to your LastPass account.

1. Open the email invitation to join LastPass Families, then select Join your family.
2. On the activation screen, create a new master password, then re-enter it to confirm it.
   Tip: We recommend using the following best practices when creating your master password:

   • Use a minimum of 12 characters, but the lengthier the better
   • Use upper case, lower case, numeric, and special character values
   • Make it memorable, but not easily guessed (e.g., a passphrase)
   • Make sure that it is unique only to you
   • Don't use personal information
   • Don't use sequential characters (for example, "1234") or repeated characters (for example, "aaaa")
   • Make sure you don't use your master password for any other account or application
3. Optional: If desired (recommended) set a Reminder – this is a clue that is sent in a reminder email to help you remember your master password if it is ever forgotten).
4. Select Activate Account.
   

If you already have a LastPass account but were invited to join a LastPass Families account, you can join using your existing LastPass account.

1. Open the email invitation to join LastPass Families, then select Join your family.
2. When redirected to the login screen, enter your email address and master password and select Log In.
3. On the "Confirm Addition" screen, make note of the following:
   • The amount remaining on your subscription (if applicable) will be applied toward your LastPass Families account.
   • If you leave your LastPass Families account, your account will convert to a LastPass Free account; your LastPass Families account cannot be reactivated, the Family Manager must re-invite you to join again.
4. When ready, select Yes, add me! to confirm.
