Exciting Changes to LastPass in 2022
Please review important information about the latest company announcement for LastPass.
On December 14, 2021, GoTo (formerly LogMeIn) announced the intent to establish LastPass as an independent cloud security company. This is a big deal! It means that password management, SSO and MFA will be the singular focus of the brand, and LastPass will receive additional investment to further build out simple, secure password management for individuals, families, and businesses.
Don’t worry – currently, there are no changes to your account or the product itself. You’ll also still work with the same great folks you’re used to for LastPass support. For more details regarding this announcement, please visit our blog.
Why are you making this change?
We are looking to establish LastPass as a standalone company because its impressive growth and market position makes it a perfect candidate to seize new opportunities. Along with this decision, we will accelerate investment in LastPass engineering, customer experience, and more, improving user interactions and driving organic growth. LastPass will be the leader in helping people and companies manage their passwords and identity. Operating LastPass as a standalone organization will make that happen faster.
What does it mean for me as a customer for LastPass to be standalone?
Establishing LastPass as a standalone company will lead to increased investment in engineering and customer experience, continuing LastPass’ category-leading approach to making it simple for customers of all sizes to create, use, share, and generate secure passwords for anywhere. As the #1 leading password manager, LastPass will be able to solve your password problems faster and in even more innovative ways.
Will there be any immediate changes to my LastPass contract, services, or support team?
There are currently no changes to your account or data in your vault. This is the same great product, now with even more focus on keeping your data safe. You’ll also still work with the same great folks you’re used to for LastPass support.
What kind of improvements can I expect from the future of LastPass?
With this change, we are strategically increasing our focus, investment, and support in LastPass to be able to solve your password management needs faster and in more innovative ways. This includes faster, seamless save and fill, a delightful mobile experience, and even more third-party integrations for businesses, among many other updates. We are also expanding our support channels so we can answer your questions faster, right when you need them, and you’ll be welcomed by a new look and feel on our website.
What does this mean for GoTo?
As of February 2, 2022, LogMeIn has relaunched as GoTo. By establishing LastPass as a standalone company, GoTo (formerly LogMeIn) will have greater agility to meet today’s flexible work needs, aligning our UCAAS and ITSM portfolio with products such as GoToConnect, Rescue, and more.
This decision reflects our strategic priority to strengthen and invest in our flexible work enablement portfolio across unified communications and collaboration and IT management. GoTo (formerly LogMeIn) will continue to deliver strong customer experience and be a leader in today’s virtual environment.
