LastPass for Microsoft Edge Legacy (no longer supported)

Please review important information below about the LastPass browser extension no longer being supported on the Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser.

    What is happening, and when?

Last year Microsoft announced that starting March 9, 2021 they would stop supporting the Legacy Edge web browser and no longer provide security updates to maintain it. As a result, the LastPass for Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser extension is no longer supported as of May 10, 2021, and will no longer function after May 18, 2021.

    Why is this happening?

At LastPass, we are committed to providing the best-in-class security to help keep your digital life organized and secure. For this reason, we cannot continue to support applications that are no longer receiving the latest security updates, and therefore we are dropping support for the LastPass for Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser extension as of May 10, 2021.

    How does this impact me?

After May 18, 2021, the LastPass for Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser extension will no longer function. This means you will only be able to log in to your online web vault (by logging in to the LastPass website), but will no longer be able to use the LastPass browser extension on Microsoft Edge Legacy.
Note: You will not lose any of your LastPass vault data; you can continue to access LastPass using any of our supported web browser extensions, mobile apps, and/or desktop applications.

As a LastPass user, what actions do I need to take?

We have suitable alternatives to optimize both your security and user experience with LastPass.

You can continue to access LastPass using any of the supported alternative options:

Will I be affected if I don't take any action?

No – you will always have continuous access to your LastPass vault data. These changes just mean that after May 18, 2021 you will no longer be able to use the LastPass extension on Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser only. You can continue to log in and access LastPass using any of the alternative options listed above.

I am a LastPass admin of a business account, what actions do I need to take on behalf of my users?

If your users no longer use the Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser, no action is needed from you.

If you used the LastPass MSI installer to deploy LastPass to your users across your company, there is no action needed from you. However, please note that the LastPass for Microsoft Edge Legacy web browser extension will automatically be removed from the Legacy Edge web browser upon the next update on or after May 18, 2021.
