lastpass chrome extension consuming cpu

Hi there, many folks in my company, myself included, are experiencing huge performance issues in the last 2-3 days with the lastpass chrome extension. It basically completely consumes any available CPU resources.

I am having trouble having more than 4-5 chrome tabs open when lastpass enabled all of a sudden. I used to be able to have 20 tabs open with no problem.

To recreate... we open chrome from scratch (no browser tabs previously open) when the lastpass extension is enabled by default.

Open 4-5 chrome tabs.

CPU climbs to 100% and stays there, never declines.

Go into Chrome settings, disable the extension, cpu resources drop to around 10% used.

It is reliably reproduceable by many of us.

Browser info:

Chrome 101.0.4951.67

laptop = Windows 10 64 bit, 24GB memory

Lastpass info:

Version = 4.95.0

Seems to have just started in the last 2-3 days.

Hi, in our company, we are testing the latest version, 4.97.0.2 and it seems that the problem is now solved. We are 4 users testing the extension, on Chrome and Firefox. At the moment, it is ok.

  • It has been gone a while, but I've got te problem again also. Created ticket #02803716 at support. Maybe other users can do the same and refer to it. My current Chrome extension version is 4.139.0.

The existing password font is very hard to differentiate between Il1 and O0. I have to cut and paste to Word and use Roman Times. Can we change font in Last Pass?

  • I've just used the new MS Word default font - Aptos(body) - and it defines these characters well. Might be a better font to use than Times Roman.

I cannot modify or add items to my password vault. Get "ERROR: Make sure you have the latest version of LastPass and try again. If the problem persists, make sure the source vault has been enhanced for privacy." I have the latest version of LP.

I am using a Mac Mini M2 2023 Sonoma 14.1.1 (latest).

  • I am getting the same problem. The last update (I'm up to date) seems to have deleted all of the log in URL adddresses. It's very frustrating not to be able to update them.

  • Same for me in Edge on w11. Lastpass consuming an entire core, causing thermal throttling and battery life destroyed.

Master password reset

My master password came up as invalid even though I know it is correct. I requested to reset it but every time I get the email and click or copy the link it tells me the link is expired. I don't know what to do. All of my passwords are in Last Pass so I can't get into anything.

Vault password list with date column

Why is there still not a way to show all password in the vault with the date of last change and be able to sort by the date column.

Also when editing a password why is the date of last change noit shown.

I allocate 5-10 minutes a week to change passwords and want to start with the oldest.

Getting logged off each time I close the browser window

Why does the lastpass extension log me off every single time I close the browser? I do not have the setting "Log out when all browsers are closed" enabled, and I don't have the "Log out after this many minutes of inactivity" enabled either. Edge doesn't have the "delete cookies on exit" enabled.

I'm on Edge/Win11, and I use Yubikey or the LastPass authenticator. Each time I open the browser, Lastpass pops up with a new tab and prompts me for the yubikey. If I close the lastpass tab without logging in, it will pop open again in like 30 seconds, indefinitely. I had left a browser open for an extended time, and I think there were over 100 Lastpass login tabs opened. This can't be normal behavior, right?

Thanks
